In everything we preach, there is an exhortation to go beyond these four walls, to live a 7 day a week Christianity, to be a light to a lost and hurting world. For many of us, we’ve made that connection in our speech but not always in our actions.
Many of us have been burnt or disillusioned by the push for street preaching (Bible bashing) because we didn’t see results. We’ve often taken the statement the we build relationally and made it an excuse to not have to be light to people we don’t have relationship with. But God’s stirring something again for a seven day a week Christianity walked out through hearing and responding to the Holy Spirit. There have been young people around the world doing “treasure hunts”.
The idea is to set a time aside to practice what we should be living every day. To ask God to speak to you, to open your eyes, to give you a picture or an insight into who he wants you to speak to, or who he wants to bring across your path today. It’s not necessarily praying for the sick, although that’s an aspect of it if that’s what the Holy Spirit leads you to do, it’s a learning ground for how we should be living our lives every day.
In light of this and something we’ve been feeling in God as a leadership team we’ve invited a lady from Christian City Church to come and run a training session on how to take this step from idea to reality. This is something that they’ve been doing as a church and doing well for a number of years, and we’d like to learn from them. - We’re all called to minister, and we want to see the Kingdom extended in and through us.
