CHRISTmas

December 05, 2011

The first part of Christmas is CHRIST.

Are we taking the opportunity this Christmas to grow and reflect the character and nature (the Glory) of Christ as a time when others are most likely to look?

Are we growing in and reflecting the character and nature of God to our neighbors, colleagues, friends and families, or have we been distracted by the business, the hype or the pressure of the season and forgotten the Christmas starts with CHRIST?

James 1:77 says, "Every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James is saying that every good thing we have to be thankful for can be attributed to one source.  That one source is God alone.

God is good. we should be reflecting the goodness of God this Christmas.  Can I suggest that the very first step in modeling and relfecting the goodness of God is thankfullness.

When we recognise and express our thankfulness that every good thing we have can be attributed to one source and that source is God alone, we bear witness to the Glory of God.

So rather than putting the focus on what you don't have, what you still need to get done, how busy you are, or what you might perceive yourself to lack this Christmas, why don't you start by being thankful for what you do have.

This very act is a witness to the Glory of God.  It can change atmospheres and relationships.

And when we make a conscious decision to be thankful, Psalm 100 says, we come into the presence of God, His very courts.
